How to Add Captions to TikTok Videos

A file-to-export workflow for TikTok: generate, correct, position and download readable video subtitles.

1. Bring your source video

Use your original video file, or import a supported public TikTok link. Available source subtitles can be reused; generate a new speech-recognition draft when needed. If you first need the video file, use the TikTok downloader and continue into subtitles on that same project.

2. Correct the transcript

Listen for names, dates and numbers. Correct each caption, then play the surrounding sentence. Use split and merge when a thought has been divided awkwardly, and check start/end times against the speech.

3. Check the frame

Preview a vertical crop if it fits your footage. Place text away from faces and the lower interface. Watch at phone size before exporting; text that looks large on a desktop can be small in a feed.

4. Export and check

Export a captioned MP4 when you want the words to remain visible in a repost. This creates on-screen subtitles, not the post description or hashtags. Download your result and upload it in TikTok.
