Get words from the video you already have

Upload an MP4, MOV or WebM, or import a currently supported public video link. The editor reuses available source captions or generates a speech-recognition draft when the source has no usable track. If the source caption check fails, retry it or explicitly choose Generate transcript. File upload remains available when a video site cannot be reached.

Correct the transcript before using it

The Transcript view shows editable paragraphs from the same timed cues as your subtitles. Correct names, numbers and unclear speech. Show timestamps and click a paragraph time to hear that passage. Paragraphs follow the subtitle cues; this is not an automatic summary, speaker-label guarantee or polished article.

Choose text, subtitles or a finished video

Reviewing and editing the draft is available on Free. Copy transcript and TXT/SRT/VTT downloads require Pro or Max. Copied text can include paragraph timestamps; TXT download is plain text. Choose SRT or VTT from Export for timed captions, or render an MP4 when you want captions in the picture. You do not need to render video to obtain a text file.

Existing subtitle files are a different task

If you already have SRT or VTT, use our free browser-only file tools to obtain TXT without transcription or a video upload. These converters reuse existing text; they do not listen to audio. Video transcription is a separate processing workflow with plan-specific duration limits.
